Shared Space: Performing Community Through Improvisation
with Chris Bell
Featuring a performance by the CLP Improv Club
How does one define community? There are no wrong answers. Sociologist George A. Hillery Jr. once cited ninety-four different definitions for the term, so why not add a couple of new ideas to the list! The CLP Improv Club will provide an entertaining exploration of the ever-shifting term community through a highly participatory lecture. Using multiple games and exercises, the CLP Improv Club will share with you the commonalities between improv and community living, the challenges of existing within a community (whether in the improv classroom, Community Living Program, or the Greater Twin Cities Metro Area), and how improv exercises provide a method for practicing modes of acting/reacting that can be utilized beyond the performance and within the community.
